Bedside Cot Reviews
A bedside crib, also referred to as a baby bassinet, is positioned next to your bed to ensure you can be able to look after your child during feedings at night and nappy-changings without needing to leave the bed. They also help in developing independence as your little one gets more comfortable in their own sleep space.
The Joie Roomie Glide
The Joie Roomie Glide is a bedside crib that allows parents to co-sleep with their newborn whilst making sure that they're asleep safely. The smooth glide motion helps to soothe your baby into sleep and its innovative features ensure that you can monitor your baby without leaving your bed.
The sliding side panel of the cot can be lifted and lowered with just a push of a single button. This makes it simple to reach inside and soothe a crying baby at night. It has 11 height adjustments that can be adjusted to fit almost any mattress size. It also has adjustable folding feet that ensure it is at the right height.
In terms of safety, the cot is padded and has mesh sides for better airflow, and the mattress is made of high-density foam to provide extra protection. It is also wipeable and you can keep the crib clean. It includes a fitted mattress sheet that is suitable for a crib.
The Roomie Glide, unlike some other bedside cribs is compatible with most beds including divans. This is due to the clips and straps which connect it. It can also be used as a stand-alone crib when it's not connected to your bed and it's packed with amazing features designed with parent-baby bonding in mind.
The most important thing to keep in mind is that even though this crib is perfect for infants, it will not last long after your little one turns six months old, so you'll need to invest in an additional cot. Overall, Roanna thought that the Joie Roomie Glide crib was an excellent buy. She loved its sleek design.
The Roomie Glide is available to purchase at John Lewis for PS160, which Roanna considered to be an affordable price for a cot featuring these advanced features. She also liked the way it was positioned in the bedroom and believed that the grey shade will work well in modern homes. However, she did point out that it's not an ideal idea to rock a younger baby because it can set an unhealthy habit that can affect later sleep patterns.

It is available in charcoal or oak with various melange fabrics that can be incorporated with a variety of styles. Anna found it to be sturdy and secure when attached to her bed, with the legs securely snapping into the bed and the zips secured to ensure baby safety. It took her about 10 minutes to assemble and didn't require tools, with clear instructions and a video or support contact number should you encounter any issues.

The Chicco Next2Me Magic
This is one of Chicco’s more expensive options. However, it comes with many amazing features. It's designed to be used as a side sleeper or standalone crib and is suitable from birth up to six months. It's easy to open and close the side panel using the new mechanism. It's also more flexible than the previous model, with 11 different height settings and legs that retract to place under any bed.
Our testers were impressed by the ease of access offered by the side panel which can be moved upwards and downwards with just a single push of a button. This was a huge benefit during feeding times at night, as it meant they could reach into and take their baby away without disturbing them up.
The side panel can be lowered by itself however, it's not recommended as this increases the risk of your baby falling out of the cot. The safety locking system makes sure that the side panel will only remain in place when it is properly attached to the parent's mattress. This is a great feature to have for peace mind, particularly when you're breastfeeding and need frequent feedings at night.
Telescopic legs permit the Chicco Next2Me Magic to be used with any bed, including divan bases and beds with drawers. It has a tilting feature for babies with reflux, as well as an option to rock to ease them into sleep after eating. It is also very large and offers excellent ventilation thanks to its mesh sides.
The Next2Me Magic was easy to use and set up for our testers, even with the lengthy instruction manual. It's heavier than some of the other side-sleepers but it's still quite portable and can be moved from room room with ease. It's also small enough to fit in a travel bag when not in use, which is a plus when you have to transport it. The only issue our testers have found is that the side panel didn't flex as much compared to other models. This made it a little harder to see your baby from your bed.
The Shnuggle Air

If you're looking for a crib for your bed that will develop with your child, then the Shnuggle Air is definitely worth a look. It's a sleeper crib that is securely attached to your bed and can be converted into a stylish cot when your baby is old enough. Ideal for feeding at night and strengthening the bond you have with your new born.
Unlike some other cribs for bed The Shnuggle Air is built with breathability in mind. Its dual-view mesh sides as well as breathable, hypo-allergenic airflow mattress maximize airflow to keep your baby cool and comfortable. A gentle incline option helps to reduce colic and reflux, while the zip down side makes it easy to feed or comfort your baby throughout the night.
The kit for conversion to cot is also well designed, with clear instructions. It includes everything you need. It took us about an hour to assemble and was reasonably straightforward. The only downside was the absence of written captions on a few images, which made it difficult to understand some of the steps. Overall, the procedure was easy and the materials used were of high quality.
In co-sleeping mode we discovered the Shnuggle Air to be an excellent option for breastfeeding mothers and women who have had a c-section as it allows them to easily reach out to their infant for feeding and comfort without having to climb out of their bed. It's also great for those who prefer not to go through the hassle of getting into and out of a traditional cot or placing their child down to sleep.
In our tests we noticed the smooth motion of this next-to-me crib to be extremely beneficial in helping babies fall asleep after feedings at night and midday. The drop-down side can also be easily accessed to feed or soothe babies in the middle of the night and was a major benefit for our exhausted test mothers. Although it doesn't rock, or have additional features like a sound system, the Joie Roomie Glide's sleek design and functionality are a welcome addition to our top bedside crib reviews.
